 Cash drawer for cash only
I just set up a USB cash drawer for the first time. It seems to open when printing any invoice. Is there any way to set it so it only opens when Cash is the selected method of payment?

Unfortunately not. The cash drawer kicks when an invoice is printed.
It kind of sucks, as if you take payment on an order, you have to manually kick the drawer. It should only kick when you save a cash payment, not on printing, in my opinion.

Re: Cash drawer for cash only
That seems really ridiculous since Cash only makes up about 2% of my transactions. If I'm gonna have to push the drawer close with every single credit card transactions seems crazy.

I agree, and sometimes it won't open at all.. Seems like such a simple thing that a 3.0 version should handle..

I'm not going to say that this is a nice solution, but in a business where cash is only 2% of your transactions, perhaps a manually operated cash drawer is a better solution. This of course assumes that you trust your employees with a set of keys Normally not a problem in a smaller business.

Re: Cash drawer for cash only
Wouldn't a better solution be for Xsilva do add a simple option to choose whether the drawer opens for every transaction or only cash transactions? I've talked to a lot of AASPs recently who use LightSpeed and we are very disheartened at the lack of response to our feedback. Tons of features that have been requested have never been implemented or even responded to. There are other POS systems out there now that have a lot more features, including full GSX integration where the repair is created and the part ordered in GSX directly without having to ever log into GSX directly. I realize this would be a major design change, but even smaller requests, like the one in this thread, seem to be completely ignored.

Yeah, 4 years ago when LS came out, it was ahead of the curve. Now others have caught up and there is viable competition out there. If Xsilva wants to stay ahead, they are going to have to start making some big improvements. You can't stand still in this market!

Re: Cash drawer for cash only
It depends on what your needs for software are. I have seen a few programs that have much better GSX integration, or much better web stores, or better checkout workflows. Many of these didn't exist 4 years ago.
Lightspeed I would still place in the middle as a good overall app, but doesn't excel in the specialized areas that others do. It's often frustrating when working with Lightspeed knowing things can be done because examples exist in other apps, but when you realize that all of these things that you love are all in different apps, there is no clear winner.
