LightSpeed 2.0 Beta 2 (Revision 4) - Close to Final
LightSpeed 2.0 Beta 2 (Revision 4)
Welcome to Beta 2 (Revision 4) of LightSpeed 2.0, the Universal version of Xsilva's next-generation multi-user Point of Sale system for Mac OS X!
LightSpeed 2 features an easy-to-use iTunes-like Browser with live document and image previews, a revamped 'floating' Point of Sale interface, a tightly-integrated Web Store module (sold separately) and multi-store inventory lookups, all built upon a powerful, multi-user SQL database that will scale to satisfy the needs of any demanding small business.
The full Beta 2 demo installer, which also installs the OpenBase 10.0.6 beta, can be found on the Beta 2 page:
http://www.xsilva.com/beta.php
Once this is installed, then obtain the LightSpeed 2.0b2 (Revision 4) apps listed below for download.

Recommended Usage and Compatibility
Important Note: This is beta-quality software. Xsilva is not responsible for any data loss and/or data corruption that you may encounter. Please refer to the End User License Agreement for further details.
The final version of OpenBase 10.0.6 (build #51) is now available that resolves several Multi-Store and Browser-related issues, including 'fetch' SQL errors:

Demo Databases
The Demo version of LightSpeed will only log into an 'xsilva_db_20b2demo' demo database. The full Beta 2 demo installer is available here:
http://www.xsilva.com/beta.php
If you want to run the Beta with your own data, duplicate your database in OpenBase Manager and name the copy 'xsilva_db_20b2demo'.
Download LightSpeed 2.0 Beta 2 Rev 4 (Demo Client Only):
http://downloads.xsilva.net/LightSpeed2.0b2r4_Demo.zip
Licensed Databases
If you are not yet running a live production database, the following LightSpeed 2.0 Beta 1 will log into a regular 'xsilva_db' licensed database.
Proceed at your own risk, as this is beta-quality software. This beta will expire on 5/10/2007 for licensed databases that do not have current subscription plans (at which point you can continue with LS 1.3.8 if you choose not to renew your subscription).
Download LightSpeed 2.0 Beta 2 Rev 4 (Licensed DB Client):
http://downloads.xsilva.net/LightSpeed2.0b2r4.zip
LightSpeed 2.0 Beta 2 (Revision 4) will upgrade your database, but is compatible with LightSpeed 1.3.8e if you wish to switch back to a version of LightSpeed 1.3.x after test-driving 2.0b2.
Download LightSpeed 1.3.8e:
http://downloads.xsilva.net/LightSpeed1.3.8e.zip
Final Release Date
LightSpeed 2.0 will be released on Tuesday, April 24th.
Please submit all bug reports, SQL errors, feedback, feature requests, questions and performance comments to this forum post or beta@xsilva.com so that they can be addressed for the final release.
Thank you for your continued support of LightSpeed![/b]

Revision 4 Testing Notes
Beta Testers: Please re-test any issues you have had with previous betas, as 2.0b2r4 is very close to the final release of LS2. Your feedback and bug reports are much appreciated.
Note Re: Tax Inclusive
Based on feedback from the forums, Xsilva will be adding a second Tax Inclusive option to calculate taxes by line item in LightSpeed 2.0.1, due shortly after the 2.0 release.

 POS Screen
I don't know if this in intentional, but every time I try to change a price, the entire POS screen (The center LARGE box) goes entirely gray.
Do you mean for this to happen?
Thanks!

 Sorting in the Browser
I am still having a hard time with the fact that I can't have the LS Browser remember how I left it every time I come back to it. I absolutely HATE the fact that I have to scroll down the entire list of invoices, SRO's or anything else to find the most recent one.
Am I missing a preference? I have to be able to sort the browser the way that I want it and have it be able to stay that way each and every time I come back to it, until I decide to change it.
Thanks

 Deleting a Product from POS
Ok, the Hide Toolbar/Launch POS crash issue is cured for me in rev 4, however I am still unable to delete a Product from the POS unless I use the Delete softkey. The keyboard backspace key still won't allow me to delete an unwanted Product as it used to in 1.3.8.
Thanks
Al.

Deleting a product in POS Screen
I have to hit the Delete button in the lower left of the POS Screen when I want to delete a product I don't want anymore.
I wish I could just hit the delete key on the keyboard to get rid of the product I don't want anymore (or that the customer doesn't want)
It's all about speed and convenience for me in LS.
Thanks!

The POS delete key has been restored for line items for the final release, thanks for the feedback!

- It would be great if when the SRO module is hidden from the Toolbar it would also be removed from the 2.0 Browser window.
- Use of a traditional OS X horizontal scroll-bar in the Quote/Order/Invoice windows.
- Similar functionality for Suppliers card as is in Customers. 1) Duplicate shipping as billing button 2) Auto-entry for City, Country, Province/State 3) Sliding drawer find/list function 4) Clicking on "Web" & "Email" perform appropriate functions
- Visual aid to help you see which text field you're currently in (customer card, supplier card, quote, etc.)
- Disallow text wrap or carriage returns on single line/non-scroll bar text fields.
- Option to view right hand side summary in Browser without picture. Instead view all contact info, billing, shipping, all phone numbers, email/web with buttons to open URL and send email. (similar functionality to clicking "email" or "web" in the customer card. Also possible to hide right column completely.
- OS X integrated spell check functionality in all text fields, especially ones for notes with scroll bars.
- Browser window doesn't display all content in the far right column. Looks like it's underneath the vertical scroll bar.
- Printed notes in invoices do not go across entire page, they use the same width as they appear in the invoice window. Full width would be nice.

Excellent, thanks for that Dax
I've somehow managed to lose my Inc Tax status in invoice mode? it's still Ok in the POS, but when I try to overwrite a price in a new Invoice from the Browser it has lost the fact that it is supposed to be Inc Tax. It was working earlier on, and i don't know how i lost it, I will try to reproduce it and report back
Thanks
Al.

Further to above on overwriting an Inc Tax price...
In New Invoice from Browser it is the New Sell Price box that fails to show. It used to, now it doesn't and unfortunately I've no idea why to help you pinpoint it. POS still working fine.
If I can get it back again I'll do some more testing on it, but atm it seems to have gone AWOL. ( Obviously the System-Wide Inc Selling Taxes box is ticked in Tax Setup)
Good luck
Al

OK found it....
When I prepare a quote I can overwrite the price with a new Inc Tax price and all is well. If I invoice this quote and try and change the price then LS adds tax to any price I have overwritten. In a similar fashion if I create a New Invoice LS adds tax to an overwritten price, even though it is supposed to be an Inc Tax price.
Bottom line seems to be that Quotes and POS are working in an Inc Tax environment, but Invoices does not.
Thanks
Al.

Sorting and smart find don't work together.
I did a smart find on the products database to find products that have been modified within the last week. Then, I click on the sell column to sort by price. Instead of sorting the found set, it reverts to the entire product list.

Of an ineresting note, it only appears that the date range portion is not working. I do a search for Current is checked, and pick a date range. The sort reverts back to the 'is current' list, but all dates.
